<div> </div><div><strong>SAY YES TO THE ROUTE 1 SECTION OF THE SHORELINE GREENWAY TRAIL!</strong></div><p> </p><p>We urge you to support the Town of Guilford's current proposal for a Shoreline Greenway Trail section on Route 1. Any delays risk losing Federal and State funding.</p><ul><li>The proposed 0.7-mile trail beside Route 1 between the East River and Boston Street will allow all Guilford residents to more safely walk, bike or wheel between eastern Guilford and the Madison line and the Calvin Leete School, the center of town, the fairgrounds and the harbor</li></ul><ul><li>It is entirely off-road on state property</li></ul><ul><li>It is fully funded, requiring no town money</li></ul><ul><li>Because of deadlines on the use of state and federal funds that will pay for construction, if action isn’t taken soon, the town risks losing all of the money—and the opportunity to create this lasting community asset—for the foreseeable future</li></ul><p> </p><p>It is a worthy project on its own merits and shouldn’t be confused with or folded into a debate about future projects elsewhere in town. After years of effort, this trail section is ready to be built as soon as it is approved by the Board of Selectmen and the Planning and Zoning Commission.</p><p> </p><p><strong>If you believe that Guilford needs the kind of safe pedestrian and bicycling environment provided by this Route 1 project, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">please sign this petition</span>.</strong></p>
