<p>We should remove the new "reaction" feature on Facebook. There are two main reasons why:</p><p>1) Fills a need that did not exist--anyone who uses Facebook regularly knows that "liking" something does not always mean expressing enjoyment about the content. A "like" can show support for the poster, exhibit interest, shine a spotlight, etc. Additionally, people who would prefer to react in a more nuanced way already have the ability to comment.</p><p>2) Allows the potential for cyberbullying. It's all well and good to be able to react negatively to a corporation or politician's posts on a public page, but extending this ability to private pages or photos seems to offer a wide array of negative opportunities. Being able to react angrily to someone's profile picture, engagement, or the birth of their new child counteracts the environment of positivity Facebook seeks to create.</p><p>Sign the petition to get Facebook to take down this terrible feature!</p>
