<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world. Day after day, week after week, year after year an endless scourge of cigarette butts rains down on our world. The filters (butts) are just marketing cosmetics, doing nothing to protect the smoker, they don't decompose for more than 10 years. Every year trillions of butts are casually tossed to the ground, where they eventually make their way to the oceans. There they join in with islands of plastic waste where fish, birds, turtles mistake them for food particles and eat them. We then catch and eat the fish that have ingested plastics and cigarette butts, filled with dangerous toxins.</span></p><p class="p1"><strong><span class="s1">This petition makes it illegal to attach, or add anything to a cigarette that doesn't biodegrade quickly ( as fast as the paper and tobacco as well as disposing any non-biodegradable cigarette filter or butt, </span><span class="s1">forcing manufacturers to create materials that break down quickly, without toxins. </span></strong></p><p class="p1"> </p>
