<p>Since many of us who live in unincorporated areas in North Texas have limited representation from our County Commissioners, this petition is intended to show our State legislators that we need a voice in the regulation of fireworks in highly populated unincorporated areas of Denton County, Texas. With the creation of Fresh Water Supply Districts in Texas, it is legal for fireworks to be set off right next to your neighbor's house anytime on any day and as there are multiple homes within 10 feet of each other in these areas, this practice has become a safety risk. By signing this petition, you are voicing your concern to our state representatives and asking them to pass legislation that would empower us to vote on whether to allow fireworks in our communities. According to the National Fire Protection Association's website, "<span class="body">In 2013, fireworks caused an estimated 15,600 reported fires in the U.S., including 1,400 structure fires."
