<p><strong>To: Lawmakers and Car Dealerships in All States</strong></p><p>We demand that you reveal important safety concerns and vehicle to consumers and start being more clear about a vehicle’s safety concerns.</p><p>In 2004, General Motors knew of a faulty ignition switch which caused 153 individuals to die in 2005. When GM discovered this, they didn’t tell consumers about the safety concern; they covered it up rather. If there were better consumer protection laws in place, these people would still be alive today.</p><p>Sadly, many car dealerships are silenced by big brand car manufacturers from advising customers about potential safety problems and defects and only make consumers aware when there is a recall in effect. How many dealers actually know about these defects?</p><p>Earlier this years, some significant changes were made in the State of Maryland to bill HB525. The bill now allows car dealers to tell consumers about any safety problems with no retribution from car makers. While this is a terrific start, these changes are needed in other states also.</p><p><strong>We must demand that a similar bill gets passed in all states.</strong></p><p>If consumers place extreme pressure on car makers, lawmakers, and car dealerships in each state, we can get a similar bill passed.
