We, the citizens of Massac County, urge the Massac County Commissioners to vote to place the one percent sales tax question back onto the November General Election ballot. We know and realize that this petition WILL NOT place the non-binding question onto the November ballot, but is merely a tangible way to show the commissioners the voters want to vote on the issue in November.
We feel the one percent sales tax would be the best way for the county to receive needed revenue in order to further its plans to renovate the current county courthouse and maintain the courthouse annex until the current courthouse renovation is complete. We realize the initiative did not pass in the spring, but feel the referendum will pass this November and encourage the board to vote to place it back on the ballot.
