<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The recent announcement of the prospective sale of Floyd Memorial Hospital to Baptist Health is very exciting news for taxpayers of Floyd County. Not only is it exciting, but it provides a monumental opportunity for the citizens of Floyd Co. The transaction can both improve Health Care to Floyd County and surrounding areas and provide tax relief to Floyd County Taxpayer. </span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As elected officials, we should work towards being the most Business and Taxpayer Friendly County in the State of Indiana, while providing a standard of services the Floyd County residents will be proud of. </span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">With these goals in mind, here are some basic commitments I urge each County Council Member and Commissioner as well as Candidates for those seats to commit to. </span></p><p><br /><br /></p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Reduce tax burden to Floyd County Taxpayers</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by reducing or eliminating County income tax. </span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Provide a property tax relief to Floyd County Citizens &nbsp;</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">&nbsp;</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Implement a study</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for the county to determine utilization of all County assets</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Conduct a &nbsp;feasibility/financial impact study</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for joint County-City-Town mergers</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Allocate funds</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to complete current projects under construction</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Create 20-year plan</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> for remainder of assets from the hospital deal. This plan should make the barrier for spending the money very high, so it will not be used for local special interests or to gain political favor. </span></li></ul><p><br /><br /></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I am not quite naive enough to believe that these goals will be shared by all elected officials in Floyd County, but after speaking with many taxpayers, I know it is what many citizens of Floyd County want.
