Bring Back the Old SHS Web Design

The overwhelming reaction to SHS's new website design has been negative and as students, we strongly urge the school to switch back to its old design. There are several issues with this design:

1) Ease of use: Although the backbone of the website is roughly the same, students have grown accustomed to the old model that we've been using for years. There was nothing functionally wrong with the old model, in fact, we heard zero complaints in all our years using it.

2) Aesthetics: Quite frankly, this design is atrocious. It's not suited for small screens and requires excessive scrolling, whereas the old design fit seamlessly onto any computer screen. Additionally, this leap toward attempted modernity has actually sent us backward--this website uses multiple fonts per page, lacks consistency in layout and spacing, and seems to scatter items haphazardly on the page. It brings a 2004 vibe to what should be a clean page design.

3) Message: The blurb on the home page is off-putting. The new emphasis on SHS's esteemed reputation and record of college admissions seems to counteract the culture of knowledge and inclusion SHS has previously tried to foster. We eliminated AP classes and eschew standardized rankings, so why this new emphasis? The old blurb talking about SHS's approach as a liberal arts education seemed much more fitting.

Honestly, we're not sure why there's this new change in web design. The only possible motivation must have been aesthetic, but the new aesthetics are so poorly designed that it makes us wonder if this webpage is instead the result of someone playing around with the themes and accidentally hitting save.
