<div class="gmail_default"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Parents and Community:</span></strong></div><div class="gmail_default"><strong>Winter Park High School...</strong><strong>The School Forgotten</strong></div><div class="gmail_default"> </div><div class="gmail_default">Winter Park High School has suffered from deteriorating sports infrastructure for 25 years. The contract between the City o<span class="">f Winter Park and the Orange County School District governing the use of <span id=":1e5.1" class="J-JK9eJ-PJVNOc" tabindex="-1" data-g-spell-status="2">Showalter</span> Field has long been the rationalization for not funding any improvements on our campus. The District recently lost administrative control of <span id=":1e5.2" class="J-JK9eJ-PJVNOc" tabindex="-1" data-g-spell-status="2">Showalter</span> after decades of neglect of that facility. We remain the only High School in Orange County with a facility in this degree of disrepair, while safety concerns voiced over the past 10 years have gone ignored and corrections unfunded. An attempt to correct these problems was made 3 years ago and simply requested to have these hazards removed. The answer from the District was that we were not authorized to remove the "capital" infrastructure (track and <span id=":1e5.3" class="J-JK9eJ-PJVNOc" tabindex="-1" data-g-spell-status="2">standbase</span>) or "fixed assets" (goalposts). This situation has created a known safety hazard on our campus, denies the use of basic sports infrastructure by our instructors to support our curriculum, and presents a daily embarrassment to our community. This problems affects all present and future students of Winter Park High School and must be immediately rectified. As taxpayers, residents and parents we can no longer allow the situation to remain in our community or on our campus.</span></div>
