Hello everyone, as some of you may know, my name is Josh Rodsan and along with my childhood friend – William Guevara, we represent “FC Bergen”, a supplemental training company based out of Tenafly. To give a little bit of background about us for those who do not know, we are life-long Tenafly residents who grew up in the Tenafly soccer system having played both in the rec and the travel programs. We went on to play competitively in the highest level of amateur Soccer in New Jersey, and still remain avid competitors to this day with our FC Bergen Senior team. As for myself, I have been the referee assignor for the Tenafly Junior Soccer League Major and Senior divisions since 2011, as well as the Coaches league, where Will and I also play.

The reason for our petition is to gain support in pursuing future possibilities between Tenafly United Soccer Club and FC Bergen. As of December 2014, we have been providing winter training services to Tenafly residents, offering both group and individual options. In our first year we had 50 to 75 Tenafly soccer players participate with us from both the recreation and travel programs. Each participant had the opportunity to play in weekly games and training sessions in a fun, but educational and structured environment throughout the course of winter. This year we had roughly the same amount of registrants.

Having grown up in the Tenafly soccer system, I cannot remember a time when indoor soccer was more than just my dad on the sidelines shouting instructions at me and my friends on a weekly basis. Back when I was in elementary or middle school, if I had wanted an experienced coach who was not related to me in any way, one who could offer me the luxury of practices in addition to games, it would have cost my parents a hefty penny to provide that type of opportunity and they would have had to drive all over the state - adding to the cost and to the stress. With that experience in mind, I think our winter sessions alone have already brought a whole new aspect and meaning to indoor soccer for Tenafly kids.

In addition to introducing organized winter Soccer to the town, we also bring with us the personal touch in our attention to detail and vested interest in all of our players’ progress, due to our roots being and remaining in Tenafly. We have an unmatched desire to see these kids succeed as individuals, both on and off the field, because we believe we’re cut from the same cloth as they are. Another advantage that we offer to the travel program is our 24/7 availability. Since training is our full-time focus, and we live locally, we can be anywhere at any time with only a moment’s notice. This also means it is easy to reach out to us with inquiries, concerns, or questions - anyone who has been a part of our winter sessions can tell you how promptly we answer emails and return phone calls.

In conclusion, if you are currently one of our 75 participants or have been a member in the past, or simply someone who knows us, and you would like to see what we can bring to the Tenafly outdoor travel scene, than we encourage you to show your support by signing this electronic petition, which we will then present to the board of Tenafly United Soccer. In other words, help us, help you!
