<p>We, as long time viewers of General Hospital, have made the informed decision not to support any companies that advertise on ABC daytime and GH due to their blatant disrespect for their veteran talent.</p><p>Rebecca Herbst has been playing Nurse Elizabeth Webber, a legacy character and the last onscreen link to the founding families of Port Charles, for over 18 years. Rebecca has never once left to pursue other avenues and has been loyal to General Hospital and ABC since she began working there in 1997. It has been brought to light that Rebecca’s contract negotiations are at an impasse. This is causing us a great deal of concern.</p><p>Rebecca carried the biggest storyline on GH this past year. Elizabeth was written so out of character that Rebecca was concerned that she would not be redeemable in the eyes of her fans. Yet did we see her take to social media to complain about the writing, as so many others have? No. We saw her do just the opposite -- engage with her fans on Twitter and promote General Hospital and ABC.</p><p>The daytime drama format relies heavily on long time viewers who feel invested in the shows characters and development. Therefore it is very disheartening that ABC does not seem concerned in doing all they can to keep integral, core actors/actresses from leaving the network.</p><p>In 2012 ABC/General Hospital lost Steve Burton, who played Jason Morgan for over 20 years. This was due to, in his words, ABC being unwilling to "play ball, and make it work." Also, fan favorite Ian Buchanan was brought back to GH after a 23 year absence, only to be needlessly killed off in 2015.</p><p>In 2015, Jason Thompson, a 10 year veteran, chose to leave General Hospital and ABC due to being allegedly unhappy with the material being written for him.</p><p>Also, veteran GH stars such as, Leslie Charleson, John J. York, Lynn Herring, Kristina Wagner, Kin Shriner, Jacklyn Zeman and Rick Hearst are rarely seen onscreen these days.</p><p>We feel this is the only way we can make an impact, in hopes to change the way ABC has been operating in regards to keeping veteran talent at General Hospital.</p><p>We invite you to search the hashtags #WeLoveBecky and #KeepBeckyGH for a clearer understanding of the magnitude of what ABC will be losing if they choose not to work out a fair deal with Ms. Rebecca Herbst.</p><p> </p><p>Thank you for your time and consideration.</p>
