Most of us have known Bill Bailey as the smiling face behind the counter at west Michigan Pawn in Grand Haven. Bill was the manager there for three years. He was known for his honesty, compassion and fair dealing. In January 2015 Brian Brookman, the owner of West Michigan Pawn, laid Bill off. In March 2015, Bill's friend, Pam Olthof financed and opened a new store. On March 2nd Bill opened that store as the manager. In an apparent effort to prevent competition, on March 23rd Brian Brookman sought and was granted a temporary injunction against Bill preventing him from working. Bill was now without a job or any other source of income. He had no way to pay for the attorneys necessary to defend himself. Brian Brookman was ultimately granted a permanent injunction by the Ottawa County Circuit Court preventing Bill from working again until May 2018. We think this is very unfair. We think Brian Brookman should agree to a full on conditional release for Bill so he may go back to work and earn a living for himself once again. We, the undersigned, pledge to boycott West Michigan Pawn until this happens and Bill can once again go back to work.
