To whom it may concern,

There is a lot of negative talk and concern throughout the West Chester campus regarding the new T-shirt policy. Us students are not understanding how T-shirts are a more efficient way to prevent any unsanitary bacteria over a tank top. We understand that T-shirts cover more skin, but we do not believe the 4 inches of cloth it provides is substantial enough to make much of a difference. We are more concerned about overheating, being uncomfortable, and not having the freedom to wear what we want to a gym that we pay for. As students who are part of this community, we know it is West Chesters goal to keep people happy, involved and active on campus. I am sure you have noticed the decline of attendants at the gym- many people have bought gym memberships at local facilities. This is not helping keep the positive attitude and outlook on West Chester that we would all like to have. Perhaps the answer to keeping the machines and the facility sanitary would be to have staff members cleaning the machines frequently. Trust me, we do want to keep safe and healthy just as much as you do. However, no other gyms have this rule and to our knowledge, it has worked out fine for them. Everyone is extremely unhappy. We hope that you take this into consideration, as the number of unhappy students continues to increase.

Thank you for your time,

The students of West Chester University of Pennsylvania
